Web Site Collaboration at Peace Lutheran Church in Seattle
The Peace Web Site is maintained by a loose collaboration of members and staff – writers, editors, communicators, content contributors, artists, technology experts, administrators, developers, photographers, and members of the congregation. A wide range of talents, from professional to expert to hobbyist to beginner, contribute to these efforts.
Meetings
The Web Team isn’t a formally-recognized “group” at PLC, and doesn’t currently hold regular meetings, except for small-group chats for problem-solving and content generation. Most communications are accomplished via email, bulletins and Peace Notes.

Team Support Needs
- Church members, visitors and neighbors are invited to contact us with questions or suggestions.
- Peace members with experience managing web content using a Content Management System are invited to chat with us about potentially joining the team. We could particularly use some assistance with monthly updates, like the Calendar and the Pass The Hat pages. Most of this content, with a few privacy edits, is culled from Peace Notes with some consultation with Kathleen. We are happy to train beginners, as well. Experience and knowledge of website privacy considerations and disclosure guidelines is very welcome.
- We are always in need of artists and photographers, especially those knowledgeable about web site copyright issues, and consent guidelines for people in photos.
- We are currently in progress on site improvements and upgrades. A redesign effort is due to be launched in mid-2025. Everyone will be invited to help with this effort, in mind or in spirit.
FAQ
-
- Where does most of the content come from on the church’s site?
- The heavy lifting of the weekly announcements and bulletins is accomplished by Kathleen and Pastor Erik, with several talented writers, artists and editors contributing. Pastor Erik and some visiting pastors also contribute to the “sermons” page, and the “Newsletters/Pastor’s Pen” posts. Dana posts content on the Calendar and non-bulletin Announcements, which are sourced mainly from the Peace Notes newsletter, weekly bulletins, and frequent conversations with Kathleen and individual event coordinators and group members. Edits are made to original content under guidelines to protect privacy.
-
- Why don’t I find email addresses and phone numbers in web pages and announcements?
- No individual members’ email addresses or phone numbers are included on web pages. Church members are invited to consult their church directories to contact fellow members. All photos and images are used within copyright and permission guidelines.
