Creation Care Team

The Creation Care Team (CCT) is focused on how we as a faith community live into our first vocation as Earth Keepers, caring for our common home, as outlined in Peace Lutheran’s sixth arena of ministry. That arena recognizes the interconnectivity and worth of all of God’s glorious creation and Peace Lutheran Church commits us all to care for the land, the air, the water, and the fellow creatures with whom we share this home. We commit ourselves to sustaining Earth and seeking justice and compassion for all that God has made. The CCT helps identify opportunities in and through our worship life, policy decisions, education offerings, actions and ecumenical relationships to learn from experts, share knowledge and encourage collective and individual actions to tend and care for Earth and all its creatures in this time of unprecedented threats to the planetary systems that sustain life. The CCT contributes to the monthly Peace Notes newsletter and weekly Bulletins.

Team Support Needs

We’re seeking active engagement from members interested in how we can walk more gently upon God’s creation through our Worship, Education, Community Engagement and Faithful Advocacy as well as in how we use energy and water and manage our recycling and waste production in our building and on our grounds. We also have opportunities for many not able to commit to committee membership, including writers, artists, gardeners, event planners and organizers, bakers, cooks, and day-of helpers. All are invited to learn about and join in advocacy work.
