Be-Wilded By Wonder: Just Creation In The Book Of Job - Tues, Jan 13, 4PM-6:30PM (Central) Online - Join us for a live conversation with William P. Brown, William Marcellus McPheeters Professor of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary as part of the Rutlen Lecture on Faith and Creation series at Luther Seminary. As a professor and an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church (USA), Brown teaches and writes about the intersections of justice, creation care, and hope from biblical and theological perspectives. He is the author of several books, most recently “Sacred Tension: Embracing Dialogue and Dissonance in the Old Testament” and “Deep Calls to Deep: The Psalms in Dialogue amid Disruption.” In this presentation Brown will lead us in exploring the value of God’s creation in Job and for us all in the face of climate crises. We’ll engage in questions like: • What would it be like to read the story of Job by reading the ending first? • How does one understand the book of Job as a whole, with creation taking center stage? • And what about all those wild animals God presents for Job’s consideration? If you are unable to join in real time, please be sure to register anyway. The lecture will be recorded and shared with all registrants! The online audience will also have a special, dedicated opportunity for Q&A with our speakers.

Social Ministry Action Team SMAT!?? What's SMAT?? We team folks who give thought, prayer and action to "social ministry" are seeking to expand our image and message! How can we emphasize Action? Justice? Community Connections? For now, we'll go with SMAT: Social Ministry Action Team. Projects include: socks for Operation Nightwatch, holiday gift bags for WIN's Welcome Table, outreach projects by our Sunday School and Youth, dinner by Peace families for neighbors at Westside shelter in the Junction; food drives and greeting cards sent to homebound friends; and you can name more! JANUARY 21 7pm -- SMAT will meet by Zoom to plan for the coming months -- including Lent and Easter. If you'd like to join this Team, just let Boots Winterstein or Marcia Olson know! JANUARY 22, 28, AND 29: These dates are open for cooking and serving dinners at Westside Neighbors Shelter (in the former American Legion Hall on Alaska). Lots of food available there -- canned, frozen, etc. You can pick up what you'd like to prepare, take it home to cook, bring back your ready-to-serve dinner! Family -friendly! The Streit family is familiar with the routine -- check with Peter or Katie! You can also contact Boots Winterstein or Marcia Olson for more information. --Social Ministry Action Team
