Sermon Title: New Font - New Life

(Luke 13:10-17)

Rev. Erik Kindem, August 25, 2019

Quick Summary:

A new baptismal font is used for the first time this Sunday at Peace Lutheran as two children are baptized.

SYMBOLS MATTER, and the rich and varied symbols of BAPTISM—woven throughout the story of God’s people and throughout our liturgy—have implications for everything we do. When THE WORLD tries to tell us who we are and what ought to matter for us, WE POINT TO THE FONT as the place where our CORE IDENTITY is formed.

The world aims to define us as "less than," to keep us bent down, but Jesus lifts us up, as he lifted the bent woman in Luke's gospel, and tells us that we belong in the Beloved community. This new reality enables us to be bold lovers and servers.
