Sermon Title: To See as He Sees

(Matthew 5:1-12, 1 Corinthians 1:18-31)

Rev. Erik Kindem, January 29, 2017

Quick Summary:

In his sermon on the mount, Jesus shows us a new way of seeing. This way is contrary to the values of dominant culture. The gospel calls us to care for the vulnerable, show hospitality to the stranger, and recognize both enemy and friend as sisters and brothers for whom Christ also died.

The recent executive order by the Trump administration restricting immigration and refugee resettlement undermines these gospel values, as well as the rule of law on which our nation is founded. As people of faith, we are called to stand with Jesus and to act in accordance with his values, caring for our vulnerable neighbors.
