Sermon Title: Listening in the Dark

(1 Samuel 3:1-20, Mark 8:34-35)

Rev. Erik Kindem, January 18, 2015

Quick Summary:

Am 8th grade field trip to limestone caves leaves a deep impression, and an experience of absolute darkness. God calls Samuel during a time when the light in Israel was flickering and about to go out. Martin Luther King Jr., like Samuel, was not afraid of the dark. A community gathered around him and that community became a community of light, shining the penetrating light of the gospel on the shadowy world of racism. We too are called to be a community of light.
