SERVING THE NEIGHBOR

The Gospel calls us to reach beyond ourselves and our needs and into the world.  Building on our roots as a neighborhood church, we reach beyond our geographic boundaries to the diverse populations of our city, extending our mission support to many local community-based organizations as well as to international ministries. Combining our resources with other congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) allows us to reach people and communities throughout our state, nation, and world.

Matthew 5

‘You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”

How May I Help?

For those who would like to actively take a role on in a service, group or event, whether just once or on an ongoing basis, we offer a variety of opportunities to serve at Peace Lutheran Church. Consider yourself invited to participate as you are able and available.

A few ways members are invited to share their time and talents:

  • Serving as a Sunday usher, greeter, assisting minister, or communion assistant.
  • Assisting our Youth Director with weekly Children’s Messages and other projects
  • Hosting coffee and refreshments for Fellowship Time and/or events
  • Contributing musically to our choir and/or musical ensembles
  • Assisting our professional audio and video teams with producing livestream and YouTube content
  • Assisting with promotions for any service teams, ministries and groups
  • Providing flowers for the altar
  • Helping the Creation Care Team with their upcoming projects
  • Supporting quilting projects and textile arts with Peace Piecers
  • Contributing to the health and beauty of our church grounds & rain gardens
  • Helping to write, edit and curate content and images for weekly bulletins, monthly newsletters and our web site
  • Sharing knowledge and skills by teaching a topic or leading a presentation for youth, adults or all ages
  • Helping serve the needs of one of our Ministry Partners. (For a list of local and national ministries supported by our congregation, see Links page.)
  • Making a Donation to support the programs sponsored by Peace Lutheran Church
