The mission of Family Promise of Seattle is to mobilize local faith groups and other community resources to provide, with compassionate care, temporary housing, meals and case management for newly homeless families as they seek stable housing.
Peace is a charter member and host congregation for this ministry, and hosts families on a regular basis. Volunteers go through a screening and training process. There are opportunities for meal preparation and overnight hosting. For more information contact coordinators Kathleen Keyes or Marcia Olson.
Note: Family Promise of Seattle suspended operations January 1, 2012, due to insufficient funds needed to serve homeless families into the new year. The board leaders are now pursuing new relationships with larger, long-standing nonprofit organizations in Seattle that want to serve homeless families and engage congregational hosting networks, such as Family Promise.
