About

Elliot Bay 2

Elliott Bay from West Seattle

Peace is a vibrant, welcoming, multigenerational congregation located in the Gatewood Hill neighborhood of West Seattle. When our congregation was organized in 1944, during World War II, our first members chose the name PEACE as an expression of their hopes and prayers for peace in the world and in their lives. Seventy years later, we continue with this “ministry of reconciliation”, cultivating the peace of God in our families, congregation, neighborhood, and world.

Children are Welcome Here! Children are a beautiful and important part of Peace and are always welcome in worship. Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and other activities are some of the ways that we invite children to share their gifts and participate. Experienced child care in the nursery is available during church services and activities.

We are a Reconciling in Christ Congregation. Christ calls us to reconciliation and wholeness, in a world that can be filled with alienation and brokenness. In faithfulness to the Gospel and to our Lutheran heritage, we answer Christ’s call to be agents of healing safety, particularly for people who have been marginalized by our society.  As a Christian community, we invite all people to join us as we work to better understand the meaning of grace for our lives. We welcome people of all sexual orientations and gender identities into the life and mission of our congregation.  For more information about Reconciling In Christ congregations, contact Lutherans Concerned – North America.
